The ONTZHI-II project consortium held its progress meeting on February 13th, 2026, in an online format, with the aim of reviewing the technical progress of the different activities and coordinating the next steps of the first annual period.
During the session, led by TECNALIA, the partners presented the progress achieved in each of the project work lines:
- Activity 2 (CIDETEC): development and evaluation of solutions for tanks and metallic components, including the analysis of material behaviour against hydrogen embrittlement and permeation phenomena, as well as preliminary validation of coatings and structural configurations.
- Activity 3 (TECNALIA): progress in the design and optimisation of mobility tank solutions, with special attention to safety, durability and material compatibility under representative operating conditions.
- Activity 4 (TEKNIKER): advancement in the development of solutions for pipelines and hydrogen ducts, addressing structural integrity aspects, resistance to hydrogen environments and the definition of testing methodologies adapted to industrial applications.
- Activity 5 (MULTIVERSE): implementation of new characterisation methods and advanced modelling tools aimed at predicting material behaviour in contact with hydrogen and supporting component design decision-making.
- Activity 6 (Mobility and Logistics Cluster of the Basque Country): deployment of dissemination, sector positioning and knowledge transfer actions, as well as coordination with the Industrial Advisory Committee to reinforce alignment with real market needs.
Overall progress across activities is considered satisfactory, highlighting the consolidation of experimental and modelling work, as well as the increasing integration between technical results and industrial perspective.
From a management perspective, the preparation of the first annual technical and financial report was addressed, and the next in-person meetings were scheduled:
- Consortium meeting: May 2026
- Industrial Advisory Committee meeting: June 2026
ONTZHI-II continues advancing in the development of technological solutions for the safe storage and transport of hydrogen, strengthening collaboration between research centres and industrial stakeholders to contribute to a safer, more reliable and efficient hydrogen economy.
